EEHOA Annual Meeting
Today at 1:00 PM at CPAC (Community
Performance & Art Center) on West Continental Road.
(From EE, take Camino del Portillo to Continental
Road. Turn right and drive for 0.9 mile. CPAC will
be on your right.)
Holiday Schedule
County offices, most banks, the post office and the
library will be closed today for Martin Luther King,
Jr. day. There will be no mail delivery, but FedEx
and UPS will still deliver and trash pickup is on
the normal schedule. If you need a book to read
while the library is closed, remember the Book
Exchange in the pool area at the Ramada.
Coffee & Donuts -- January 23
Join your neighbors for free Coffee & Donuts at the
Ramada on Wednesday, January 23, at 8:30 AM. It's
a low-key event that gives you a chance to talk
quietly to neighbors. New residents are especially
welcome. Thanks to the Cookes and Surprises for
sponsoring this event.
EE Gardeners Meet Twice This Wednesday
The Gardeners will meet twice on Wednesday,
January 23. Everyone is welcome at the informal
planning meeting at the Ramada at 9:15ish.
Please come with ideas for 2019 activities and
projects.
A work party at 1:00 Wednesday will
meet at the Ramada. The
time was selected to allow pickleball players a
chance to participate. Finishing the clean up of
the EE trail along Regalo should take less than
2 hours. Last week the
group tackled 60 percent of this area and the EE
Trail south of Vereda Calma. Thanks to everyone
participating in the clean up. Hot Desert hauled
off truck-loads of trimmings.
Calling All Trucks
The Enhancement Committee needs volunteers with
trucks to pick up large items that residents donate
to the Ramada Sale between now and the sale on March
2. If you can help, please call Patty
Tracy at 520-444-4472.
EE Name and Address Directory
The 2019 Name and Address Directory will be for sale
at the annual HOA meeting for $5.00. Want a
directory but unable to attend the meeting? Call Karen
White at 520-648-3993. Thanks
to Cheri Day for producing the
directory.
Thanks to Hospitality
Once again, the Hospitality Committee put on a great
event last week. Thanks to this dedicated group of
volunteers who work hard to bring us a nice meal and
entertainment every month.
Kudos to Doug Syme
Doug diagnosed a tricky problem with the hydraulic
system on the Gator, which rendered it operable once
again so the weed eradication program could
continue.
Let There Be Light!
Thanks to John Leach and Craig
Surprise, power to the lamp posts in front
of the Ramada and the fountain in the garden has
been restored. The circuit breaker panel in the
pump room showed no visibly tripped breakers so they
dug into the panel, probing each breaker with a
meter until finding one with no output; flipping it
off and back on restored power to the fountain and
post lights along the street.
EE's Enhancement Committee's 2019 Ramada Sale
This year's March 2 sale is
the perfect way to rid your home of unwanted items.
Proceeds are used for projects throughout EE. Drop
off donated items at the shed next to the pickleball
courts any Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.
For
pick-up of heavier items call Patty
Tracy at 520-444-4472.
The
committee will not accept mattresses, hide-a-beds,
clothing, paints or chemicals.
Policy on electronics: only working laptop computers and working printers with
ink cartridges will
be accepted. No other electronics -- TVs, cables, etc.
-- will be accepted. Donations of electronics will only
be accepted at the shed. Non-working computers, can be
recycled at Best Buy.
Free Yoga Classes
Classes will start on Tuesday, February
5, at 2:00 PM at the Ramada. There will
be six sessions, each lasting about one hour. To
participate, you should be in fairly good
condition and able to get up and down off the
floor without difficulty.
Bring a large towel and a thick yoga
mat because you will be working on the brick
floor of the Ramada.
If you have any questions
contact Kathy Lindeman at
970-577-3395.
Happy Hour Dates
Happy Hour will be held at the Ramada at 4:00 PM on
the following Fridays: January 25, February 8,
February 22, March 8, March 22, April 5, April 19,
May 3, May 17, and May 31. Bring your own beverage,
glasses, and utensils and an appetizer to share.
Helpful HOA Hints: Lampposts
Speaking of lampposts, you are responsible for
keeping your lamppost in good shape and making sure
it is operable at all times. If you are away for an
extended period of time, you can't turn off your
electrical service. If your light bulb burns out,
you can call Tom Cooke and he will provide you with
an approved replacement bulb (13-W, warm-white CFL)
at no charge. Sometimes Tom drives around in his
golf cart and replaces bulbs that are out.
If you
don't venture out after dark and don't know if your
light works, there's an easy way to check. Go out
in the daylight and fool the light into thinking
it's dark by putting your finger or a piece of tape
over the sensor (that's the little round thingy that
sticks out of the pole near the top). After a few
seconds, your light should come on. Section 12.4 of
the C,C&Rs--check it out at esperanzaestates.net in
the documents section.
